Fungal infection in the feet also called athlete’s foot or tinea podal occurs when dermatophyte fungi affect the skin or toenails causing mycosis.

We can all contract these fungi and the infection is contagious, so we must take special care to avoid getting the infection, recontaminating ourselves and infecting other people. In this article we tell you how to treat fungal infection or mycosis on the feet with the best natural remedies and tips for prevention.

FOOT FUNGUS: SYMPTOMS

The infection most often appears between the toes and on the sole of the foot. It manifests itself with:

  • Redness
  • High sensitivity
  • Desquamation
  • Itch
  • Pain
  • Stink

FUNGI ON THE FEET: TYPES

ATHLETE’S FOOT

When we talk about athlete’s foot it is not a sports injury, but a fungal infection (or mycosis) in the feet caused by dermatophyte fungi.

This fungal infection on the feet manifests itself in the area between the toes, being more viable on the sole of the foot. These fungi tend to appear and grow in areas with more heat and humidity.

Hence, the use of tight shoes or closed shoes used daily, together with perspiration or sweat of the feet, creates the environment conducive to the appearance and growth of athlete’s foot. These are the main symptoms of athlete’s foot:

  • Itching. At first it is perceived as itching and stinging sensation or slight punctures.
  • Redness. The area between the toes looks more red, sensitive, as if it had peeled, and hurts. Sometimes blisters can form. It is also characteristic of the bad smell not only of the affected area but of footwear, socks or stockings.
  • The infection can progress to the soles, sides, backs, and toenails.
  • Sometimes, fungal infection can be complicated by bacterial infections such as those caused by Streptococci or Staphylococci.

TOENAIL FUNGUS (PARONYCHIA)

When the skin surrounding the nails is damaged, inflamed and infected, we are talking about paronychia. It can appear on both fingernails and toenails.

Maybe you’ve ever had it on a finger: you’ve bitten a stepfather, or your hand has gone biting your nails and skins…. Either you have worn those beautiful and tight shoes without cutting your toenails well, or you have ingrown a nail and suddenly there you have found the problem: pain, swelling and fungal infection – and perhaps bacterial – even with pus.

The most characteristic symptoms of toenail fungus are similar to athlete’s foot:

  • Redness and swelling around the nail.
  • Stink.
  • Intense sensitivity to contact.
  • Sensation of palpitations or as slight punctures, in the affected area.

HOW ARE FOOT FUNGUS SPREAD?

These dermatophyte fungi grow most in moist and hot areas. There are: several routes of contagion:

Therefore, the contagion is through contaminated surfaces, footwear and clothing. It is not uncommon to have them when we wear closed shoes that do not perspire and sweat our feet.

  • Through surfaces. Wet surfaces where other people walk are more likely to transmit this mycosis or athlete’s foot. For example, on the beach, in the pool, in the gym, in the spa, even at home if someone has them.
  • By direct contact. This mycosis can also be transmitted by direct contact, both “skin to skin” and for example it can occur in some sports or games.
  • By contact with contaminated footwear and clothing. It can be spread through contaminated socks, socks, towels, bath mats, or carpets.

FOOT FUNGUS: TREATMENTS AND NATURAL REMEDIES THAT HELP

To avoid fungus on the skin, hygiene is key, keeping the skin of the feet clean, dry and airy as much as possible. In addition, these natural remedies help fight fungus:

  • Tea tree oil, or niaouli oil, can help us fight fungus.
  • Talc (magnesium silicate powder) helps absorb moisture and can be applied to the skin as well as inside shoes and sneakers.
  • Talcum powder with tea tree oils or rosemary oil, they will also leave us with a good smell.
  • You can put rosemary or thyme inside your shoes and slippers.
  • Baking soda sprinkled inside shoes and socks before use can also help eliminate fungus and odor.
  • You can prepare a paste with baking soda and a little water and apply it on the affected areas of your feet, both between the toes and around the nails.
  • Foot baths with diluted vinegar. Put a small glass of vinegar, about 100-150 ml, in 1 liter of water and put your feet inside for about 10 minutes. Then dry them very well and gently.
  • Some people use a mixture of crushed garlic, olive oil and thyme for its antiseptic properties, which they apply as an ointment covering with gauze. Now then… The feet will not smell “like feet”, but they will smell like garlic… Something to consider. After a while you can wash your feet and always dry them very well and gently.

FOOT FUNGUS: HOW TO AVOID CONTAGION AND RELIEVE SYMPTOMS

The main recommendations would be:

  • Avoid walking barefoot in suitable areas.
  • Wash very well between your toes. Do not think that by stepping on the bath towel they are already very dry: dry one by one.
  • Change your socks, stockings or leotards. Even if they look clean… If you wear socks to sleep: do not be the same as the ones you have worn during the day, or vice versa.
  • Don’t use the same towel or mat as others.
  • If you have fungus, don’t leave the wet bath mat on the floor.
  • At the gym and pool, keep socks and towels you’ve used to dry your feet in a separate bag, and wash clothes at a high temperature if they admit it.
  • Always avoid wearing the same shoes or sneakers. Maintain hygiene with your shoes. Beware of slippers to walk around the house. Take care of them and keep them clean and sanitized.
  • Wash any slippers or flip-flops you wear to walk on the beach, pool, or spa.
  • Choose the right footwear for your sports activity. Don’t let your feet “strain”.
  • Choose preferably natural fabrics for footwear and socks. If you wear technical sportswear, check the washing mode.
  • If you use templates, change them periodically.
  • Don’t touch your feet and then other parts of your body. For example, the same fungi that contaminate your feet can contaminate the groin area, just by touching them. So, the hands, always well cleaned.
  • Wear your toenails well cut, avoid side peaks and that they are too short.
  • Extreme hygiene in pedicures. Don’t share utensils. Make sure utensils are disinfected if you go to a public place.

Noticing a puncture in your heel when you get up may indicate that you have a heel spur, a calcification in your heel. Find out why it happens and how to treat it with natural solutions.
Calcaneal spur causes, symptoms and natural remedies to treat it
  • What is the heel spur?
  • What symptoms does heel spur cause?
  • Is it good to ride with a spur?
  • How to treat a heel spur naturally?

The feet support us, keep us in touch with the earth and allow our movement. Despite their importance, we do not always give them the attention they need and, sometimes, we even mistreat them with inappropriate shoes that harm our footprint, we overload them … something that can lead to problems such as the heel spur. We explain why this annoying problem occurs in the feet and how to treat it naturally.

CALCANEAL SPUR: WHAT IS IT

A heel spur (also called calcaneal exostosis) is a calcification in the heel that causes a beak or tip thickening of the heel bone (called the calcaneus). This growth of bone causes the tissues around it to become inflamed.

It occurs, in many cases, as a result of plantar fasciitis that has become chronic. Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the thick band that runs along the sole of the foot (plantar fascia) from the heel bone to the toes. The body accumulates calcium in the injured areas so that the tissue regenerates and this is how the heel spur ends up appearing.

Plantar fasciitis (and, therefore, the heel spur) is usually due to overload (from running, jumping or standing for many hours, for example, or due to obesity), the use of inappropriate footwear (with a lot of heels or that does not adapt the foot well), by having flat feet or cavus (with too much bridge), shortening of the Achilles tendon or bursitis (inflammation of the synovial bursa) at the insertion of the plantar fascia.

CALCANEAL SPUR: SYMPTOMS

The main symptom of a heel spur is a stabbing pain on the inside of the heel when supporting the foot, as if you were sticking a stone or a nail.

The pain can become very intense and cause lameness when walking. It is more intense when you get up after sitting or lying down, for example, when you put your feet on the ground in the morning, or when running and punctures can also spread to the sole of the foot. When you’re at rest, the pain usually goes away.

In some cases, the heel spur does not cause any discomfort and can only be detected through an X-ray.

IS IT GOOD TO RIDE WITH A SPUR?

If the spur causes pain when walking, it is advisable to reduce the activity and always use appropriate footwear (not too high and that adapts well to the foot), as well as reduce the intensity and frequency of sports practice. It is also advisable to lose weight to lighten the pressure on the sole of the foot.

  • In some cases, the pain is so severe that it becomes disabling.

CAN A HEEL SPUR BE TREATED NATURALLY?

The treatment of heel spur, apart from modifying the causes that cause it (overload, inadequate footwear, obesity), may include the use of personalized orthopedic insoles to loosen the fascia, laser therapyanti-inflammatory drugs and, ultimately, if the most conservative measures do not work and the spur interferes a lot in the daily life of the person, it may be necessary to operate.

There are also other natural treatments that can be very helpful, such as acupuncture, which has been shown to reduce pain in some people.

Stretching, massage and exercises to educate the feet, such as those you can find in this article, are also a very interesting option.

When you notice pain, the cold can help soothe inflamed heel tissue. One option is to apply a cloth-covered ice bag on the heel (never apply ice directly to the skin) for about 10 to 15 minutes. In the pharmacy you can also find bags of gel that are put in the freezer and adapt to the foot to make it easier for you to keep the cold in the right place.

On the other hand, some essential oils, such as eucalyptus or lavender, can act as natural anti-inflammatories to reduce both pain and swelling. Keep in mind that you should dilute them enough in vegetable oil and follow the instructions of a specialist before using them to massage your heels.

Stomach pain is a common symptom that has ever occurred to us. There may be several causes behind this discomfort. Let’s see how to recognize the cause and the remedies and natural care for these more frequent and mild causes.
Pain in the pit of the stomach causes, natural remedies and tips to relieve it
  • How the stomach hurts
  • Causes of stomach pain
  • Natural remedies for stomach pain
  • Life habits to avoid stomach pain
  • Herbal Remedies and Nutritional Aids for Stomach Pain

The stomach is a wonderful organ that we pay little attention to, until it gives us the can. During childhood, complaints of pain or discomfort in the stomach are not uncommon, which some popularly call “pain in the pit of the stomach”. Eating too much or something that has simply felt bad, alcohol, too much coffee, carbonated soft drinks, a work lunch or a celebration, the lack of schedules … They can cause stomach pain.

“My stomach is closed and it hurts and nothing comes in.” This is a mythical phrase that perfectly reflects what happens to the stomach and why it hurts us when we are very nervous, worried or feel anxious. Has it happened to you, or perhaps to your children, at exam time? The stomach is a muscle and can shrink and/or become inflamed, and that’s where the pain comes from in most cases.

In this article we will see remedies and natural care for these more frequent and mild causes of the typical “pain of the pit of the stomach”. Without forgetting that if the pain is very intense, lasts over time and is accompanied by diarrhea, weight loss or other manifestations, we must consult to rule out or confirm conditions that require special care. Whatever the case, your stomach benefits from natural care and a healthy lifestyle.

HOW THE STOMACH HURTS

The stomach is a sac-shaped muscular organ. It has an upper opening through which food enters: the sphincter cardia, which is the connection with the esophagus; and a second, exit opening at the bottom, the pylorus sphincter, which connects to the duodenum (first part of the small intestine).

As can happen to other similar muscles, the stomach can contract or shrink. A contracted muscle hurts, and we notice…

  • Pressure in the stomach area.
  • Pain that can be mild or very intense, in which case it can be reflected in the back and / or in your cervical area.
  • Stomach pain prevents many people from being able to eat normally. If this happens, we can also notice: swelling, heartburn, regurgitation, nausea, vomiting, belching.

CAUSES OF STOMACH PAIN

Stomach pain is a common symptom that has ever occurred to us. Although the causes can be several, the most frequent are: indigestion, gastritis or anxiety (nerves, we usually say). We tell you how to distinguish the origin of stomach pain.

1. INDIGESTION

Indigestion usually occurs from having eaten some spoiled food that damages or irritates the stomach or having eaten an excessive amount of food that the stomach is not able to process. As the stomach cannot empty well, it is tense, bloated and hurts.

Although it may not seem like it, regurgitations, belching, nausea and vomiting are the body’s way of “trying to make room”, emptying the stomach, eliminating the contents that are doing damage and facilitating the release of tension or stagnation in the stomach.

2. GASTRITIS

Gastritis is inflammation of the internal mucosa of the stomach or gastric mucosa. First of all, let’s not forget that the gastric mucosa is very powerful, it can withstand the high level of acidity conferred by hydrochloric acid that is so necessary for its digestive functions and to protect us from possible pathogens.

Gastritis can be started by irritating foods such as spicy, acidic, alcohol and in some people, fermented. Also, for tobacco, some drugs such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), foods that cause histaminosis as can occur in certain food intolerances. Stress or anxiety as we will see later can also sometime with gastritis.

Prolonged or severe gastritis can form ulcers in the gastric mucosa and in the vicinity of the cardiac sphincters and pylorus. This case requires professional support.

3. ANXIETY

If you have ever noticed that pinching sensation in the pit of the stomach, the inability to eat when you are stressed, worried or troubled, your stomach aches and pains are real but the cause is in your body-mind relationship.

When the brain is engaged in something that we make it believe concerns our vital security, certain functions are put in the background, and one of them is digestion.

Your stomach may suddenly shrink from upset or bad news, and you feel like vomiting. Once the problem that “worried” us has disappeared, the stomach is fine again. But … does it happen to you whenever you can get nervous?

The important problem, believe me, is when anxiety is not momentary but prolonged over time. Your stomach shrinks, becomes inflamed, gastritis starts, annoys, hurts. The stomach is not in a position to receive any food.

It’s as if your body and mind can’t “digest” what’s happening or what you think is going to happen. Fear is free and too powerful.

This situation can lead us to a hard and difficult experience: our social life is affected, vitality and health begin to decline, we can have problems of malnutrition, depression and can be the origin of the condition called anorexia nervosa with serious general consequences. It is advisable to seek psychological help without fear or shame. You will learn a lot about yourself, to take care of yourself and love yourself.

NATURAL REMEDIES FOR STOMACH PAIN

Do you identify with any of these 3 causes of stomach pain? If so, whatever the cause of your stomach upset, with the care of the rhythm, quantity and quality of your diet and lifestyle you will walk towards the desired tranquility and stomach well-being.

Let’s see remedies and natural care for these common situations that we have mentioned that can manifest with stomach pain, in case it ever happens to you or you have a tendency to happen to you.

LIFE HABITS TO AVOID STOMACH PAIN

  • Distribute meals, do not swell.
  • Keep a rhythm of eating schedules: this prepares the stomach and digestive system.
  • Choose simple meals, not too seasoned, avoid spicy ones.
  • Don’t fill your stomach: stop eating before you feel like you don’t fit anymore. So, you leave “hole”.
  • Eat peacefully. Don’t argue during meals. An impossible on some occasions, I know, in that case, for example, when you go to negotiate something, eat light.
  • Avoid drinking during meals. Use a sip just to “swallow.”
  • Eat with water or a warm infusion but avoid cold drinks or ice. Before drinking a beer remember that it is fermented, carbonated and cold and that can give you stomach pain.
  • Avoid sweets, refined sugar, honey, puff pastries…
  • Avoid fried and fat, industrial snacks.
  • Do you remember that “you don’t talk when you eat”? It has a reason: when you eat and tell you swallow air and it can cause discomfort. So, chew well, swallow and then talk.
  • In your day to day: breathe, breathe and breathe. Practice some kind of meditation, mindfulness… The case is to stop a few minutes a day. When your stomach hurts: breathe in, swell the gut. Your stomach will stretch and then, breathe out slowly and let it relax. You will feel better.
  • Put a little heat in your stomach after eating, sometimes a cushion is enough.
  • Pamper your stomach.

HERBAL REMEDIES AND NUTRITIONAL AIDS FOR STOMACH PAIN

  • Ginger (rhizome of Zingiber officinalis) is the king of plants to help the stomach. It’s certainly wonderful when it comes to indigestion, nausea, when we’ve eaten too much or when we’re not quite sure if the food we’ve eaten was too far there. It helps to better digest foods that are not really easy to digest, such as mushrooms. If you use grated ginger, make it a little: chop a lot. When ginger is cooked, it spices even more. An infusion with a little ginger, and for example, green tea or chamomiles would be perfect, taking it little by little.
  • Cinnamon (bark and branches of Cinnamomum cassia or C. zeylanicum) is very interesting because it also helps relieve that spasm that is associated with stomach pain and we want something that warms us a little and comforts. Keep in mind that cinnamon bark is more potent than cinnamon sticks.
  • Chamomile (flowers or plant of Matric aria chamomilla or Anthemis nobilis) is perhaps the most popular, acts as a digestive, anti-inflammatory and helps soothe pain. I remember as a child listening to older people: “chamomile helps you because either everything goes out or settles your stomach”. It is taken warm and a little.
  • Fennel (fruits of Foeniculum vulgare) with its carminative and digestive action facilitates gastric emptying and helps relieve swelling, heaviness and gastric discomfort.
  • Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) and poppy (petals of Papaver rhoeas or aerial parts of Eschscholzia californica) can help us when stomach pain has an emotional or mental origin as we have said related to anxiety or nervousness.
  • Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra root) is a great digestive and gastric anti-inflammatory. It is preferable that people with hypertension avoid it or use it under professional advice.
  • Digestive enzymes. I usually recommend along with digestive plants, digestive enzyme supplements to facilitate the work of the stomach.

Your stomach is wonderful, take care of it.

Having a stuffy nose is not always the result of a cold. Irritation of the mucous membranes, trauma or nasal polyps are some of the causes that can be behind a stuffy nose without mucus secretion.
Stuffy nose without mucus what may be due and how to uncover it with natural remedies
  • Stuffy nose without mucus: causes
  • How to unclog a stuffy nose without mucus

Respiration is the innate and essential process by which we provide oxygen to our cells so that they can carry out their functions and we remove the waste product (carbon dioxide).

Breathing well is key to well-being, helps us gain vitality and improves our mood. Although breathing is usually an unconscious process, we can keep it in mind when having a stuffy nose (nasal congestion) prevents us from carrying it out normally, something that can be due to different causes.

STUFFY NOSE WITHOUT MUCUS: CAUSES

One of the main symptoms of respiratory infections such as the common cold or flu is nasal congestion, usually with a runny nose. But what happens when we have a stuffy nose without mucus? Why is that?

A stuffy nose is usually due to inflammation of the mucosa within the nostrils. This mucosa is the first defense barrier against microorganisms, allergens and other substances that enter our body through the air we breathe. A stuffy nose without mucus discharge can have several causes:

RHINITIS DRIA

Unlike other more common rhinitis, in dry rhinitis there is an inflammation of the nasal mucosa that does not produce mucus. Its main symptoms, in addition to congestion, are nasal drynessitching or persistent stinging.

It can be caused by exposure to irritants such as tobacco smoke or other harmful substances. Environmental pollution can also irritate the airways and cause nasal inflammation and obstruction.

The abuse of decongestant sprays or corticosteroid sprays is another cause of this type of rhinitis. Also, some medications for acne or for the treatment of cancer can temporarily dry out the mucous membranes.

RHINOSINUSITIS

Rhinosinusitis is a consequence of the accumulation of mucus in the sinuses that causes an infection in the area. Usually, the cause is a poorly cured cold or flu and people with allergy, asthma, chronic rhinitis or deviations in the nasal septum are more at risk of suffering from it.

The main symptom is nasal obstruction or congestion, which may or may not be accompanied by mucus (when the mucus is very thick). There may also be pain in the face, headache and total or partial loss of smell.

Chronic rhinosinusitis is one that lasts more than 3 months or that recurs throughout the year and, although its symptoms are less intense, it can damage the tissues of the sinuses. According to the Spanish Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery (SEORL-CCC), almost 12% of the population has some type of chronic rhinosinusitis.

NASAL POLYPS

Nasal polyps are caused by a chronic inflammation of the nasal passages that causes benign soft and painless masses inside the nostrils and sinuses.

Its causes are not entirely clear, but it usually occurs in people with chronic rhinosinusitis. In fact, according to the SEORL-CCC, it occurs in 4% of people with chronic rhinosinusitis.

If the polyps are small, they cause hardly any symptoms. In case they are larger, at first there will be nasal congestion and later sleep apnea, loss of smell and pressure and facial pain may appear. Large polyps that cause a lot of discomfort can be removed with surgery.

TRAUMA OR FRACTURES

The nose is one of the parts of the face that suffers more goals and fractures (for example, from traffic accidents, domestic accidents or while practicing sports) due to its prominence.

Trauma to the nose can lead to inflammation of the nasal passages or a dislocation or deviation of the nasal septum. In some cases, the inflammation may go unnoticed, especially if there is no fracture, but a feeling of having a stuffy nose may be noticed.

  • Having a deviated nasal septum can make one nostril more plugged than the other.

HOW TO UNCLOG A STUFFY NOSE WITHOUT MUCUS

Some of the causes of stuffy nose mentioned, such as deviation of the nasal septum, can only be corrected with surgery. However, these natural tips will help relieve the symptoms of stuffy nose in many cases:

  • Maintain good nasal hygiene by performing nasal washes.
  • Make nasal mists (for example, thyme) from time to time, covering your head and inhaling the steam for a few minutes. You can also inhale the steam from the bathroom when you go to shower.
  • When lying down, stay in a slightly upright position or with your head raised to prevent even greater congestion.
  • Put a warm damp cloth on your face several times a day.
  • Avoid blowing hard because you could further damage the nasal mucosa.

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the mucosa that lines the sinuses. With these natural remedies we can improve the symptoms and prevent their appearance.
Natural remedies against sinusitis

More than 30 million people in the world, adults and children alike, suffer from sinusitis every year.

In the sinuses, the air entering and leaving the body is mixed, temperature and humidity are especially balanced, and contact occurs with bacteria entering and leaving the body. It is therefore a place of exchange, of relationship and also of tolerance.

Sinusitis would be an expression of imbalance and at the same time the response of the organism to this anomalous circumstance, generating a series of reactions with the intention of returning to normal.

From the medical point of view, it is essential to intervene to alleviate the symptoms that this imbalance presents, but respecting the work of the organism, since it is endowed with mechanisms to eliminate what is left over.

WHAT CAUSES SINUSITIS?

Sinusitis is usually caused by a bacterial (most frequent), viral or fungal (fungal) imbalance, which causes an inflammatory reaction that obstructs the entry and exit of air in the paranasal sinuses (frontal, maxillary, ethmoid and sphenoid).

Sometimes it only affects one of them, at other times the incidence manifests itself in all.

The causes that generate this incidence are very diverse:

  • Blockage of the holes (ostia) from the sinuses to the nose due to previous rhinitis or inflammations of the nasal mucosa.
  • Pollution and tobacco make it difficult for the small hairs (cilia) of the breasts to drain the mucosa. This mucosa accumulates and facilitates the development of bacteria.
  • Abuse of nasal decongestants.
  • When the nasal septum is deviated, there is an abnormal nasal bone growth, polyps or a facial tumor.
  • The presence of a foreign body.
  • Swim or dive often.
  • After a dental arrangement.
  • Altitude changes (flying or mountaineering) can affect due to pressure. To avoid this situation, it is important to breathe slowly and deeply through the nose and swallow saliva to regulate the pressure in the cranial cavities. Sometimes, if there is a picture of acute sinusitis, it is counterproductive to travel by plane so the pain can be intense.
  • If you have gastroesophageal reflux.
  • After a hospital stay, if a tube has been inserted through the nose.
  • Cystic fibrosis prevents cilia from working well.
  • Kartagener and immotile cilium syndromes are other ailments that can cause sinusitis.

WHAT SYMPTOMS DOES SINUSITIS HAVE?

Symptoms of acute sinusitis occur after a cold that does not get better or gets worse after a week.

The most frequent are:

  • Congestion and runny nose.
  • Sore throat and postnasal drip (a feeling of mucus coming down behind the throat, particularly at night or when lying down).
  • Headache, over or under the eyes, teeth or facial sensitivity.
  • Cough that usually gets worse at night.
  • Occasional fever.
  • Bad breath or loss of smell.
  • Fatigue and feeling generally unwell.

The symptoms of chronic sinusitis are the same as in acute sinusitis, but tend to be milder and last for more than eight weeks.

NATURAL REMEDIES FOR SINUSITIS

Sinusitis is a disease that lasts between four and twelve weeks and can be a real torture, so it is logical that we resort to antibiotics to stop its effects.

However, antibiotics are not always effective: in chronic sinusitis, bacteria accumulate inside the sinuses that form complex aggregates to which antibiotics sometimes do not have access. In addition, they should not be abused either.

The habit of smoking in these cases aggravates the picture and hinders healing, so if we want to end our evil, the first thing we must do is abandon that habit.

If a sinusitis lasts more than three weeks, we would already be talking about chronic phase instead of acute state and, to avoid perpetuating the discomfort, it is clear that measures must be taken aimed at the background treatment. The most important consist of:

  1. Eliminate foods that produce mucus: It is about eliminating above all milk and its derivatives (there are great improvements with this change).
  2. Apply hot water cloths: They are applied on the face several times a day, for 15 minutes each time, relieves symptoms as it favors drainage and increases blood flow in the area.
  3. Hydration: Hydrating well is a must. Make it with water, infusions and fruit juices.
  4. Inhalation of mists: Add to the water mucolytic medicinal plants such as traditional rosemary, eucalyptus, cypress pine, or a few drops of tea tree essential oil.
  5. Practice the “neti” or nasal shower: Get nasal washes with saline or slightly salty water to restore the flora of the breasts. Nasal cleaning consists of thoroughly cleaning the nose and frontal sinuses, being advisable to do it in the morning, when you get up.
To make this, a teaspoon of sea salt is dissolved in a liter of warm water, a lota or a rubber pear (sold in herbalists) is filled with water and the nozzle is placed in the nostril, tilting the head to the opposite side so that the water comes out through the other pit. If you opt for the pear, it should be squeezed slowly so that the water comes out.
The cleaning is repeated with the other nostril. During washing the mouth should be half-open to breathe.
Then a gargle is made with water and sea salt and, finally, the nostrils and sinuses are dried, blowing the nose well.

To treat this symptomatology, it is important to respect the natural mechanisms of elimination that the body activates to recover health. The most effective measures to treat it are:

  • Do not take antipyretics to eliminate fever if it is not very high.
  • Respect the secretion and even favor it with vapors and mists.
  • Breathe through your nose so that your breasts don’t get cold.
  • Use mucolytic plants, such as mallow, that help the production and expulsion of mucus.
  • Also resort to anti-inflammatory plantsmucosal protection and antiseptics, such as devil’s claw, thyme and horsetail, taking them in infusion or cooking, vapors, aerosols or washes.
  • Use water in all its forms: drink, vapors, aerosols and washes. Sinus congestion can be reduced by taking the following steps:
    • Use a humidifier at home.
    • Use a nasal saline solution. To relieve breast pain can be used (no more than 4 days) nasal sprays of sulfur waters.
    • Inhale steam 2 to 4 times a day.
    • Drink a lot to thin the mucus.
    • Apply warm, damp washcloths to your face several times a day.

Homeopathy is also very effective. To treat sinusitis the following remedies are prescribed:

  • Cinnabaris is indicated in frontal or ethmoid and sphenoid sinusitis with filamentous mucus and frontal or ocular pain.
  • Kalium bichromicum, if there is thick, viscous and sticky mucus.
  • Hydrastis, if accompanied by weakness.
  • Lachesis, if severe pain is felt when discharge ceases.
  • Hepar sulfur to promote secretions.
  • Silicea in chronic suppurations.

HOW TO PREVENT SINUSITIS

Some dietary guidelines and hygiene and lifestyle habits can prevent its incidence.

  • Avoid, if possible, or properly treat the flu and cold.
  • Wash your hands whenever they are dirty.
  • Take fruit and vegetables, rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, which strengthen the immune system against infections.
  • Reduce stress.
  • Do not be exposed to tobacco smoke and environmental pollution.
  • Use a humidifier to keep moisture in the nose and breasts.
  • Drink fluids to increase moisture in the body.
  • Treat allergies immediately and appropriately.
  • Moderate the use of heating because it dries out mucous membranes, as well as pools with a lot of chlorine.
  • During a crisis it is ideal to fast if there is no appetite or drink plenty of juices, vegetable broths and water throughout the day.
  • It is advisable to follow a diet with a predominance of vegetable foods and without saturated fats, without spicy or bitter foods.
